2022 Annual Review

Dear friends,

As I review the Conservation Lands Foundation’s work in 2022, I’m proud of a year marked by the people and partnerships that made public land protections happen. Last fall President Biden signed an Antiquities Act proclamation establishing the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument in Colorado and he committed to designating Avi Kwa Ame (Spirit Mountain) in Nevada a national monument. This March, he signed the executive order establishing both Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range in Texas as national monuments, protecting more than 566,00 acres.

With the assertive action of our Friends Grassroots Network, in 2022 we helped secure a 25 percent increase in funding for the Bureau of Land Management for the 2023 Fiscal Year, further solidifying the impact of our community-led approach. As we continue the urgent fight to conserve public lands, I want to thank you for inspiring and igniting momentum around this significant work. While the outcomes of advocacy are rarely predictable, the impacts are enduring and invaluable. With your unwavering commitment to our shared mission propelling us forward, we are positioned and empowered to achieve lasting protections for our nation’s most vulnerable and valuable landscapes.

Brian Sybert

Executive Director
